So Crafty!

When I was in high school my friends used to tease me about doing crafty things, they would say I would grow up to have a store called "Kim's Crafty Crap and Collectibles". I never really made anything worth noting, mostly really bad refrigerator magnets, until I discovered knitting and crocheting several years later. Since then I have come to really enjoy making little knitted and crocheted things. So I'm going to try to catalog them here in my blog. As for the collecting...I used to collect the little ceramic figurines from the Disney store...but that passion is long gone and now I like cake plates and anything to do with displaying desserts :) although cake plates take up quite a lot of space, but I'm willing to trade some pots and pans for those...just kidding Dustin :)

My most recent (completed) project was this mobile for my friend's baby. It was so much fun, I can't wait to make another!

Time sure does fly!
It was about one year ago when these wonderful little bundles of fluff and joy joined our family.
Tiger and Aggie are such sweet and loving doggies and we so glad to have them in our lives!

Be drug free!

We are celebrating drug free week at school this week. We are also learning about the letter D coincidentally...I was having my students help me come up with words that start with the letter D. I got dog, dip, drink, dive, and drugs. Which leads into a full discussion of the dangers of drugs. "You shouldn't do drugs, boys and girls because it's not good for your body and ....." (a little sweetie interrupts by saying) yea and you'll turn into a donkey!

After I stopped giggling behind my clipboard I said, "yes you will"

Oh, so honest!

The other day I had a substitute helping out in my classroom. She was reading a story and one of my kiddos got a little too close, I guess because she said "eww, you have bad breath" Oh my god!
I could have died! I was so embarrassed!

Another cute one...We went to dinner with one of Dustin's coworkers and his family. In the mix was a first grader who when Dustin asked what he wanted to be when he grew up he said, "a scientist". Dustin said, "oh, what kind of scientist" The little boy said, "a mad one." Of course, we thought what other kind is there?

Here's a recent pictures of my guys :)

First stories...

Hi!
After many hours spent drooling over the creative and beautiful things in other people's blogs I've decided to start my own. At first I'm not sure how much creativity you'll see in it, but it's a goal! I hope to have a little shop with all my little crafty creations...someday.

I'll also like to use my blog to tell the crazy and mostly very funny stories I collect in my job as a Kindergarten teacher.

These little happenings remind me everyday to appreciate the little joys of life. Being with small children helps keep me grounded, forcing me to live in the moment and not always take myself so seriously. Especially in these uncertain times.

Here's one to start...I have a very caring little student in my class this year who is always "checking" on me. She comes over while I'm sitting in a tiny chair about to read a story and she'll pat me on my back and lean over and say, "I'm just checking on you, do you need any cheering up?" So cute! Well the other day she comes in the room and says that she has something for me. After squirming around and digging in her jeans' pocket she pulls out a single Halloween themed, bat shaped fruit snack, "here" she says, "I don't want you to get hungry". My first thought was a scene from Ferris Bueller's Day off when the girl on the bus says, "you want a gummy bear? They're really warm and soft they've been in my pocket." I had to turn around so she couldn't see me cracking up. "Oh, thank you" I said. "I'll save it for later!"

Another gem happened last year when I was asking if anyone has any lunch money, an adorably sweet and cute little guy comes over and hands me some coins (lunch usually cost two dollars) he hands me his two coins that he retrieved from his Spider Man wallet. The two coins were Chuck- e- Cheese tokens. Oh my gosh...so cute!

That's all for now
thanks for reading!
Kim:)
